The storage and filling of steel shot in shot blasting machines has always been a thorny issue. Filling the shot blasting chamber with steel shot before each blasting session requires a significant amount of time, significantly limiting the machine's efficiency. During operation, some steel shot inevitably spills near the machine's work area. This scattered steel shot not only compromises personal safety but also contaminates the machine. Over time, accumulation on the ground can lead to rust and clumps, making it unusable. Collected steel shot also has no storage capacity, and when work needs to resume quickly, it's difficult to refill the required amount of steel shot in the shortest possible time.
To address these challenges, we constructed a removable steel shot temporary storage tank from unused round tubes removed from equipment, adding a snap-on discharge mechanism to its base. We also repurposed a discarded water tank, reshaping the base into a tapered shape and installing a discharge mechanism. This storage tank was then mounted on the upper side of the shot blasting chamber, and transition holes cut into the upper side of the chamber corresponding to the discharge holes to create the storage and filler. This complete system for loading, storing, and dropping steel grit for a shot blasting machine has been created. While the machine is operating, the operator can assign someone to collect the steel grit near the blasting area and transfer it to the removable temporary storage device. Before the next shot blast, simply open the dropper on the bottom of the storage and feeder to add the appropriate amount of steel grit to the blasting chamber.
This modification solves many of the challenges of collecting, storing, and adding steel grit to the shot blasting machine. It significantly improves steel grit utilization, reduces production costs, and significantly enhances the efficiency of the shot blasting machine.
